Gulf Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen is the style icon of the 60s who embodies the lifestyle of his generation. The highlight for all Steve McQueen fans is certainly the race car driver epic Le Mans from 1970. In the film he plays Michael Delaney who drives a Porsche 917 for the Gulf team - a partnership that really existed at the 24 hour race at the time.
After the film Le Mans hit the cinemas there was a real run on promotional jackets, bearing the Gulf logo, that were worn in the film. Everyone wanted to be as cool as Steve McQueen and the complete selection of jackets and accessories were sold out within a few days. For this reason the leather and racing jacket specialist DAKOTA has added a Le Mans Gulf jacket to its collection. Amazingly, even today there is still a fan club world-wide that proudly wears the orange and blue coloured logo.
DAKOTA recently signed a long-term contract with Gulf Oil Ltd. in order to offer a whole collection of traditional Grand Prix styles, travel bags and accessories.
