Triumph overview
Originally a small maker of high quality vehicles in the pre-war period, Triumph was revitalised and expanded post-war by The Standard Motor Company's Sir John Black who acquired the remaining assets of Triumph in 1944. From that point onwards Triumphs were developed alongside their Standard sisters, sharing components, but despite this, many characterful saloon cars and sports cars were built at the Canley factory under the Triumph name. These included Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire, GT6, 2000/2500, Stag and the best known of all, the TR range. It started with the quite basic TR2 in 1953 which was developed into the TR3 and TR3A. In 1961 there came the TR4 with winding windows and a heater! This was developed into the TR4A with independent rear suspension, followed by the TR5 (and the TR250 in America) with a six cylinder engine. In 1968 Triumph wanted an updated body style and the result was the TR6 which was a sophisticated car for its time. By now Triumph was in the hands of British Leyland and it produced the more basic TR7 and later the TR8. This was followed by a few Acclaims, a Japanese design built under licence, but it all ended in 1984. Sad.

Over the years Lucas supplied a lot of equipment to Triumph as did SU and others, many of them being parts common to Standards and other cars being built by other manufacturers. We stock and supply many of these items, to find them look under the appropriate heading. Included are a number of parts specific to Triumph cars. These specific parts, accessories and books are listed below:

If you are running a Triumph or are involved in restoration of Triumphs we hope you will find this website useful. It should be noted that we also offer to the Triumph owner rear view mirrors, sun visors, clothing for open cars, oils and other consumables. Enjoy your motoring!
