Maserati overview
Formed in 1914 in Italy by the three Maserati brothers as a tuning establishment the only cars they made before 1939 were racing cars or the same cars equipped for the road. Financial problems led to Maserati being taken over by Count Orsi. Post-war Maserati made everything including spark plugs, motorcycles and sports racing cars, but mainly they went Grand Prix racing, with some success, notably in 1957 when Juan Manuel Fangio won the World Championship. From then on Maserati concentrated on road car production and produced flamboyant cars like the 3500GT, Quattroporte, Ghibli and Mexico. Maserati was taken over first by Citroen, then by Alejandro de Tomaso who led them until his health declined. Maserati was then acquired by Fiat and today is very close to Ferrari within the Fiat empire. We don't think that British manufacturers supplied very much to Maserati for the construction of the cars, but if you do need anything for a Maserati it is worth seeing what similar equipment we supply by looking under the appropriate heading. We are often asked about books etc. on the marque and those we have are listed below: If you are running a Maserati or are involved in restoration of Maseratis we hope you will find this website useful. It should be noted that we also offer to the Maserati owner rear view mirrors, sun visors, clothing for open cars, oils and other consumables. Enjoy your motoring!
