Daimler overview
Daimler was the Britain's first manufacturer of motor cars commencing in 1896 and took over Lanchester in 1931 and both marques continued to be made all through the vintage years when Daimlers were the chosen cars of our Royal Family. When war came production was turned over to making armoured cars. The main happening post-war was the arrival of Lady Docker, wife of the chairman Sir Bernard Docker. She had Daimler build spectacular cars for the London Motor Shows and the 'Docker Daimlers' became world famous. Daimler seemed to have a habit of announcing a variety of new cars each year, these included the DB18, Regency, Conquest, Century, Consort, Roadster, One-O-Four, Majestic and Majestic Major all of which led to the SP250 sports car with its V8 engine designed by Edward Turner. Then in 1960 the Daimler marque was sold to Jaguar since when all new Daimlers have been based on Jaguars although, at first, the excellent V8 engine was carried over.
Over the years Lucas, SU and others supplied parts for Daimlers, many of them being parts common to Jaguars and cars being built by other manufacturers. We stock and supply many of these items, to find them look under the appropriate heading. Included are a number of parts specific to Daimler. These specific parts, accessories and books are listed below: If you are running a Daimler or are involved in restoration of Daimlers we hope you will find this website useful. It should be noted that we also offer to the Daimler owner rear view mirrors, sun visors, clothing for open cars, oils and other consumables. Enjoy your motoring!
