MG overview
Started by Cecil Kimber in the 20's MG developed a line of sports cars with sweeping running boards and separate headlamps. The MG Midget was introduced in 1928 and this was developed into the T Type in 1936, but MG also made larger cars and saloons. In parallel with production, MG used motor sport to develop and promote their products. In 1939 an MG with an 1100 cc engine exceeded 200 mph! After making tanks and aircraft parts during the war, the first post-war sports car was the TC which was a further development of the pre-war line. However, in 1953 the Magnette saloon was introduced which was a much more modern car. The T series continued through the TD and TF to the introduction of the aerodynamic MGA in 1955 which led to the very successful MGB and MGC. At this time the MG factory at Abingdon was also building the Austin Healey Sprite and when this was updated in 1961 a new MG Midget version was added for the benefit of MG dealers. The Abingdon factory closed in 1980 and in 1985 Austin Rover started building cars with the MG name, the best known being the MGF. We will gloss over what has happened since then!

Over the years Lucas, SU and others supplied parts to MG, many of them being parts common to other cars being built by other manufacturers. We stock and supply many of these items, to find them look under the appropriate heading. Included are a number of parts specific to MG. These specific parts, accessories and books are listed below:

If you are running an MG or are involved in restoration of MG's we hope you will find this website useful. It should be noted that we also offer to the MG owner rear view mirrors, sun visors, clothing for open cars, oils and other consumables. Enjoy your motoring!
